1. What is Flash?
Adobe Flash, which was at one time called Macromedia Flash, is a multimedia and software platform. It is used for creating vector and raster graphics, animation, games, and internet applications, that are viewed in Adobe Flash Player. Flash is often used to add video’s and animated banners to websites. These Flash applications are created with a program called Action Script, which is an object-oriented language. However, the Adobe Flash Professional uses a language that is called Java Script Flash and is the most preferred program with web designers. The Adobe Flash Player plugin is available free of charge on the internet and is the only way you will be able to view content that is created in Flash. This has posed a problem for some websites developers who felt that the need for a plugin to view the content put limitations on visitors to their website. HTML5 was developed a few years back to open up more opportunities for Flash style content without the need of a plugin.
2. How Flash Applies to Your Education
Your Flash courses will give you the basic techniques needed to add banners and video to your website designs. Flash will also benefit you if you are moving your education to a career in gaming. Like Photoshop and Illustrator, Flash can be purchased as a single software program, part of a Creative Suite, or a subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud. Again, the single version can run approximately $50, the Creative Suite $350-$750, and the Creative Cloud in either the $19.99 per month single software rate or the $49.99 per month Creative Suite rate. Adobe also offers a discount on their Creative Cloud pricing for students and teachers on the Creative Suite version with is $19.99 per month or a pre-paid amount of $199.00 for the year.
Your course assignments will most likely require you to create a few animation videos that use tools like the Bone Tool and the Action Script language to display moving objects. Considering every student does not learn the same way, many students have benefited from utilizing other resources on the internet to enhance their understanding of the techniques of Flash. We here at Graphic design Degree Hub have put some of these resources together for you. The next 15 video tutorials are a collection of different techniques that your will most likely learn during your Graphic Design Degree program.
